I guess the right thing would be to put a face to the company right? Well if we have to. Here is an awkward photo of us at our launch party of Restless Socks in 2014. You can tell by our faces we were asked to pose for this photo.
So who are we? Restless Sock duh. Kirra is on the left of the pic and Andrei is on the right. We grew up together. We have been best friends since we were 5 years old, which is surprising because Andrei couldn't speak English when he arrived from Ukraine, but somehow we managed to communicate.
Kirra has always had a passion for fashion and Andrei business, what a duo hey? We were both sick of buying socks that got holes in the heels and toes, that would fall down and would not last longer than a couple washes. One day after returning from America, Kirra approached Andrei about starting up a sock brand. She had just purchased a bunch of socks from a huge retailer in America and by the time she arrived back in Australia after 3 weeks they were wrecked. She thought I could do better than this and asked Andrei about working together to build a sock empire. Voila! Restless Socks was born, after a year of planning and sampling, we launched in November, 2014.
It took us a long time to find the right quality, Kirra tends to be a bit OCD. We wanted to make socks that have just as much time and effort put into them as any other item of clothing. We use combed cotton and features like a reinforced heel and toe and seamless toe closure. We flew out in 2014 to China, where our socks are produced to ensure the quality and design was correct.
Our creative aesthetic was to elicit feelings of 90’s childhood nostalgia through our sock designs. We wanted to be reminded of our carefree childhoods, so we use simple, clean, yet highly graphic and illustrated socks in bright, bold and pastel colour ways that take you back to being a kid growing up in the 90s.
Speaking of growing up in the 90s here is pic of us in 1991.
We still have those same awkward smiles. This pic was taken for the Advertiser Newspaper in Adelaide to promote buying Bilby chocolate instead of Bunny chocolate for Easter time. Bilby's are an endangered species in Australia and we were doing our bit to prevent that, although we had no clue what was going on. Kirra was just sad because they made her change out of her Batman tee into a tee with flowers on it. It still bugs her to this date.
We would love to hear from you, so if you need anything or have any questions for us about anything please just shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will try our hardest to reply within 24 hours.
Kirra and Andrei.
