We recently sat down with Anna Puckridge an amazingly talented Mountain Bike rider from Adelaide, who is a Restless Sock team-rider. Actually she does all kinds of riding from cross country to enduro to cyclocross, she is a multi-talented woman. We are super proud of Anna not just for her bike riding talents but also because we get to have genuinely awesome, generous, supportive and kind person on our team.
Anna recently took a pretty epic stack on a downhill track, but in true Anna style she bounced back like a champ. Check out the graphic pics below. I'm sure she will love us sharing these pics again. She somehow managed to get no blood on the socks, now that is a true Restless Socks fan.
1.Can you give us a quick intro about yourself. Who are you? How old are you? How long have you been riding?
My name is Anna Puckridge, I am 30 years old and I have been riding competitively for 5 years. I got into the sport mainly from a fitness perspective, but then started riding the local trails and loved the challenge of the terrain and learning a new skill set. Mountain biking is really social so its great to go on group rides and catch up with friends at events.
2. Where are you from and where do you live now?
Have been Adelaide born and bred. Still here!
3. What style of Riding is your favourite?
Tricky question! Since starting, I have participated in many variants of cycling. My main discipline is cross country, which is a lap format race, enduro, which is a distance event, cyclocross which was initially derived from Europe where participants basically ride road bikes with knobbly tires on a moderately challenging course. It is a short course so it lends itself to spectators. The final discipline is gravity enduro, where each rider has timed downhill sections. To be quite honest, each one has its merits and challenges. XC tests fitness, enduro tests endurance, cyclocross tests strength and speed, and gravity enduro tests how many pies you can eat whilst keeping the bike upright over sometimes scary terrain!
4. What is your favourite trick and or Course (whichever is more relevant)?
Oohhhh great question! I have been fortunate enough to ride in NZ, Tasmania, NSW, Victoria, but there is something about south Australian trails like Sturt Gorge, Shepherds Hill and Fox Creek which is pretty special.
5. Favourite Restless Socks design?
This is really tough! I’m going to be very vain here and say I like the China sock because the red matches my riding shoes and my bike!!! Ohhhh im such a girl!
6. What is your favourite meal?
Is chocolate a meal? I love dumplings, pastas, barbeques, stirfry and curries.
7. Rider you most admire?
Terri Rhodes. A very humble but talented South Australian rider who has excelled at many different disciplines. A great ambassador for the sport, an all round fantastic athlete and a great person.
8. What advice would you give to someone?
Listen to everyone, but only take advice from those you trust.
9. What’s the best advice you have had given?
Laugh, lots. Never take things too seriously. A setback is never a bad experience, it just forces you to take a different perspective on things. Don’t look back with regrets, but look forward with anticipation.
10. What would you like to see on Restless Socks?
A bike, or chocolate, or pizza!! Haha… just kidding. I love the funky designs. I really just love to see colour!
